A brief rundown of the story that you may not have  read in the MSM.

Almost all links will probably be considered "not work safe" by many readers and probably blocked by work filters because, as we all know, gay = porno.

The story begins with an article in OUT magazine about the very popular gay male hook up site Manhunt (believe me, you probably don’t want to click on that )

For those unfamiliar with SF writer Orson Scott Card, author of Enders Game long ago, it often comes as a surprise that he long ago went far off his trolley in campaigning against gay rights.

As an established author he is a regular columnist in Mormon papers, and there is little that I can imagine as being more ironic than Mormons calling for armed rebellion to defend "traditional marriage" - but that's the thing about irony...

A poll released today is titled:

FAVORITE SON McCAIN STRENGTH IN ARIZONA SHRINKS.
OBAMA GAINS AMONG MEN, DEMOCRATS AND LATINOS.

In late July, a survey of 401 voters in Arizona’s most populous county, McCain’s lead
over Obama has narrowed to within five points ( 43% for McCain to 38% for Obama).

I just received this notice from Equality Arizona - it hasn't made the papers yet (if ever) so all I have to go on is their email.

Since I know at least one of the people attacked, it reminds me of the courage of those fighting for equality and reminds me of the character of our opposition.

Equality Arizona responds to anti-gay attack in Flagstaff

Phoenix, Ariz. – Equality Arizona responded today to an apparent bias-motivated attack on several lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people early Sunday morning.  The incident involved staff and volunteers of Equality Arizona, the statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender

civil rights organization.

It appears that McCain unwisely chose to deliver his speech standing in front of a large green background.

This was naturally considered provocation by the pundidiots at the Colbert Report and they have responded with a Green Screen Challenge

That is the way that they label a blatantly partisan attack on the Democrats for not passing Bush's Columbian free trade bill.

The anti-marriage amendment is back.  After it looked like the amendment had been derailed, it is back on the agenda for the Arizona House of Representatives.  Things may move very quickly-the House could vote on the amendment at any time, possibly on today, April 22, and the Senate might immediately follow.  If the legislature approves the amendment, it will be on this November's ballot, just two years after a similar effort was defeated.

The religious right, along with the connivance of the state Repubs and Karl Rove (yes, seriously Rove advised them to do this) is once again planning today to place a referendum on the November ballot to amend the state constitution and prohibit gays from being allowed to marry.

Given the opportunity to "clarify" his earlier gay bashing in Senat testimony today, he simply reaffirmed that he was unworthy of his rank:

"We need to be very precise then, about what I said wearing my stars and being very conscious of it," he added. "And that is, very simply, that we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law."

Promise  to disappear so that Rowan Williams can join in solidarity with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and declare "no gays here".

Anglican church halts gay ordinations

THE US Episcopal Church today agreed to halt the ordination of gay clergy and the blessing of same-sex unions until a broader global consensus is reached.

This may be a duplicate but I dont see it here and it seems to me more important than whether Craig is gay.

There are a lot of jokes going around, but getting your friends to help you beat up gays isn't a laughing matter to me - although it sems to be

The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers.  On the contrary, our Founders’ political views were strongly informed by their religious beliefs.  Certainly the drafters of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, both replete with references to God, would be aghast at the federal government’s hostility to religion.

Christmas in Secular America

Dear Dr. Gupta,

The citizens of the USA owe you and similar highly educated physician/journalists a debt of gratitude.

In our ignorance we are prone to believe almost any misinformation if we didn't have more educated and intelligent guidance from people such ass yourself, protectin us from those who would "fudge the facts".

In light of thc christian's recent victory in pressuring Walmart to drop support for gay employees, I wanted to bring to everyone's attention and excellent article explaining that accusations of "hypocricy" and "intolerance" are not productive when attempting dialogue with such christians.

U.S. christian theology has re-defined Tolerance to be a sin, Intolerance a virtue.

I'm not going to stick around for this - I just had to get it off of my chest.

My tolerance for "progressive" chistians is very low, I admit. My experience has been that when push comes to shove they will always chose to side with their "faith" over their "progressive".

I admire PastorDan, but to me he seems a freak anomaly - I would expect that most christians would brand him as "not a REAL christian" but unlike them, I mean it as a complement.
